Field Demo Success: Filtrexx SiltSoxx as a Smarter Sediment Control Solution
Last week, Devron Sales had the privilege of partnering with Filtrexx Canada for a live field demonstration of SiltSoxx® filter socks in Norfolk County.
The goal of the demo was simple: show how SiltSoxx can serve as a practical, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional sediment control methods like rock check dams.
A Strong Turnout of Industry Leaders
The event brought together several key stakeholders, including:
- Chapter 5 Drainage Superintendent (DSAO)
- Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) staff
- Conservation Authority representatives
Having these voices present was critical, as collaboration is the foundation of moving sediment and erosion control practices forward in Ontario.
Demonstrating the Difference
During the demonstration, Dave Cooke (Devron Sales) and Ron Bisaillon (Filtrexx Canada) highlighted the unique advantages of SiltSoxx:
- Easier to install than rock check dams
- Lightweight and reusable, reducing labour and equipment needs
- Cost-effective, saving both time and budget
- Environmentally sustainable, using organic filter media to trap sediment naturally
The live results spoke for themselves. DFO staff confirmed that SiltSoxx would be an acceptable alternative for temporary sediment control under their authorizations—an important step forward for adoption in the field.
Collaboration that Creates Change
This demonstration wasn’t just about showcasing a product. It was about building momentum through the mutual efforts of Filtrexx and Devron Sales. Together, we’re working to provide drainage professionals, conservation authorities, and municipalities with innovative solutions that simplify compliance while protecting waterways.
What’s Next
With conferences in October and January on the horizon, we look forward to sharing more about the benefits of SiltSoxx and other erosion control products with the DSAO membership. Filtrexx’s expertise, paired with Devron’s commitment to advancing sustainable infrastructure solutions, is helping shape the future of sediment and erosion control in Ontario.
